Superb example of an Early Worcester porcelain Blue and White Precipice pattern Large Punch Bowl in excellent condition
Circa 1765
This first and avidly collected period was close to the start of the early English soft paste porcelain manufacture and Worcester were one of the most famous of these manufacturers. The Founder Dr John Wall formed the company with associates in 1751 and was the driving force behind Worcester and their rapid rise to the status as the major porcelain manufacturer of the mid to late 18th Century. Dr Wall died in 1776 though the 1st Period is often any Worcester manufactured products between 1751 to 1783, which was the date the company was acquired by Thomas Flight.

This large punch bowl is an example of the wares produced quite early in their production in the mid 1760's. The design was in emulation of the imported Chinese Porcelain  which started to arrive in Europe in the 17th Century and was highly sort after.
