1st Period Dr Wall Worcester "Mother & child" Tea Bowl & Saucer C1760- RARE MARK

£215.00

1st Period Dr Wall Worcester Blue & White" Mother, Child and Fisherman" pattern in the Chinoiserie style. This is an early example of this pattern with a rare and unusual mark of script Initial W for Wigornia (Latin for Worcester) rather than the more usual Crescent mark.  I am dating this to Circa 1760 as the porcelain colour, size, very fine potting and cobalt coloration matches other Worcester pieces of this period in my collection.

This period was the start of the early English porcelain manufacture and Worcester were one of the most famous of these manufacturers and arguably the best manufacturer of these Blue and White pieces in this period..
A very collectable item.
