£255.00

A really lovely large Chinese Mandarin Rose porcelain plate with vibrant and highly detailed enamel and gilt decoration. This type of “Famille Rose” plate was made mainly for Europe or the USA and is classed as Export ware. It is a very fine example of Chinese Mandarin enamelled and gilded plates, likely an early example dating from around the 1830s, made during the Reign of the Emperor Daoguang (1820-1850). This type of decoration is also often referred to as "Canton" ware. The plate features exquisite decoration around the borders, including Birds, Plants, Flowers, and Butterflies. The center of the plate shows a finely painted Palace scene of a group of Female courtiers in attendance to one of the Emperor's Consorts (or possibly Empress Xiaoquancheng) in the Imperial Palace gardens. Dimensions: Plate diameter 24.5cm (Just under 10")
