Meiji Japanese Arita very large Baluster Vase Made for the export market in the 19th Century
The vase stands an extremely impressive height of 60cm tall ( Just under 24 inches )
The vase is decorated with the classical Arita pallet of Deep Cobalt blue, Rich Iron Red Glaze , Gold gilding and overglaze enamels. The vase is features classic Japanese designs of the period with cartouches showing Female courtiers in a garden scene surrounded by flowering peonies. The other panels are a dramatic scene of the Phoenix bird (Ho-Ho bird) being observed by a majestic green Sea Dragon rising out of the foaming waves in typical Japanese style. Other decoration features black tipped cranes, Geometric patterns and flowering peonies.
Japanese export porcelain vases were avidly sought by the wealthy aristocratic and royal patrons to decorate their stately homes and palaces from the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century right through to the early twentieth centuries.
Japanese porcelains were prized for their boldly patterned and richly coloured decoration. The importation of Japanese Imari ware at this time changed European taste for Asian porcelain
This is a wonderful example of a very large Imari Japanese vase with a lovely decorative theme.
Please note there are some firing marks in the glaze which are "as made" and show as small indentations in some areas. The vase has been priced to reflect this.

Shipping prices to all locations will be automatically shown when purchasing an item. These prices are for registered shipping. Collection is also possible. Please make sure you tick the correct box when buying any item to avoid transport charges if you intend to collect or send your own transport company
For International buyers they do not include any local taxes or customs duties, if applicable. That will be given as a separate invoice by your customs authorities directly to you.
Items will be very carefully packed and larger items will be crated
RETURN & REFUND POLICY
For UK customers returns are accepted up to 14 days after receipt. The buyer is responsible for all shipping and insurance charges back to our warehouse. Refunds will be paid once the goods are checked for condition on return. Return goods may be subject for a restocking charge of 10% chargeable to the buyer
In all other case returns are not accepted except in the case of items not being as described in the listings. Buyer must inform us that the goods are not as listed within a maximum of 5 working days from receipt along with any photographic evidence to support the claim. Buyer is still responsible for return charges and shipping, but these will be refunded (shipping costs must be agreed by us prior to sending).
