Magnificent Oil on canvas horse painting by the known painter William Nedham of Leicester (active 1824-1849). William Nedham is believed to have been born at Syston in December 1801. He painted a number of well known equestrian scenes in and around Leicestershire and surrounding counties between 1824-1849.

The painting is both signed and dated ( 1826) by the artist

The frame is labelled by and has been made by famous French framers and packers Ernest Royer, of 14, Rue du Cherche-Midi, Paris in the 19th Century.

This painting is possibly of Charles Meynell of Clopton House, Strafford upon Avon, Warwickshire.  Nedham did a painting of an identical horse which is titled with the name Clopton House and the date would have Charles Meynell as owner.
