Large and impressive oil on board of the Chateau Beaumesnil in Normandy France . Signed and dated (1845) by the artist Georges Adelmard Bouet (1817 -1890). After completing his studies at the Petit-Séminaire and the Collège Royal in his Caen, Georges Bouet was sent to Paris to complete his artistic education. He entered Paul Delaroche 's studio in 1836 and left in 1839 , already a painter of merit and a very remarkable draughtsman. He became a very important artist for his work of accurately capturing many French historical buildings of note both in drawings and paintings. His works are held in many museums worldwide including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The authentication of this painting, aside from the signature of the artist, can also be seen by the stamp on back panel of the painting. of Muller et Fills, Paris. This well known company supplied prepared boards for painters only between 1842 -1855. Exactly correct for the painting date of 1845
