Chinese Kangxi Famille Verte 'flower basket' charger- Superb quality- Circa 1700

Magnificent Kangxi period "Famille Verte" charger dish . Superb enamel decoration. Circa 1700. The dish has a stylised panelled depiction of flower baskets of various forms. The central border a garden scene and then the exterior border decorated in a highly decorated floral design with four cartouches of fish and scholars objects intermittently.

 A truly wonderful museum quality dish, very similar to an example in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam (see image)

The dish has had an very early staple repair probably in the 18th Century which has been professionally and sympathetically restored in fairly recent times to an exceptional standard rendering the repair to be almost completely invisible. The original pewter border from the very early repair has been retained as well two of the 18th Century staples which gives some character to the dish. 

These dishes when they come on the market (which is not very often) normally sell for between £3000 - £6500. This has been priced accordingly taking in to account the restoration
