Magnificent burr walnut early 18th Century 8 day Longcase clock by well known London maker, John Hallifax, noted as working both at the Old Bailey and Fleet Street. The clock is circa 1720-30.

The gilt metal round arch top of the dial with silent/strike silvered dial flanked by mythical beasts and scrolls, 8 days striking movement with dead beat escapement, silvered chapter ring with subsidiary seconds and days aperture, arched silvered plaque inscribed John Halifax London, the whole with female mask and foliate scroll spandrels, case with flat-top hood, oblong burr walnut wood door inlet with oval glass and wooden bezel . Early double plinth base.
