Superb example of an Early Dr Wall period Worcester porcelain Teapot in "Dry Blue" in excellent condition

Circa 1770 decorated by the famous and important porcelain decorator James Giles at his Studio.
Dry Blue was a very specific blue colour of decoration used by James Giles.
The item may well have been bought by Giles as undecorated porcelain to be decorated and sold by his workshop in London via their showroom in the fashionable district of Cockspur Street. James Giles was one of the top five porcelain decorators of the mid 18th Century and his work can be found on important pieces by Worcester, Derby, Chelsea and Bow porcelain. His work is famous both for the enamel work and for the superb quality of gilding he produced.

This period was the start of the early English porcelain manufacture and Worcester were one of the most famous of these manufacturers. The Founder Dr John Wall died in 1776. This cup and saucer date to the  middle of the 18th Century so dating around 1768-1770
 
A Very rare and collectable item with exquisite gilding and the beautiful Dry Blue colour.
