Magnificent 17th C walnut marquetry longcase clock by London Maker Isaac Penton

Circa 1695 this beautiful longcase clock by known London clock maker Isaac Penton shows  late 17th Century clock making at its finest.

This 8 day duration movement with an 11.25 inches square face  has five pillars movement with an inside countwheel striking on the hour on an iron bell.

The face is engraved to the winding holes and the date aperture. The main dial and second hand dials are silvered on brass with the makers name clearly signed on the chapter ring. The centre of the dial is matted.

The case is a wonderful example of 17th century walnut and marquetry veneer work with panels of birds, flowers decorative vases all set on walnut bun feet.

These are increasingly rare finds in the clock market today
