£4,825.00

An exceptional mid 18th century Chinese Export George II  large tripod table, with circular tilt-top on turned centre column & birdcage support, raised on chamfered cabriole legs with heavy cast brass lion paw feet & brass castors. The  most dramatic feature of this table is the top is padouk and the base section zitan wood*. The superb quality heavy castor feet are also unusual feature. The birdcage mechanism ( something only found on the higher quality tripod tables of this period) allows the table top to rotate independent of the legs.

The table is quite large with a diameter of 88cm (34.5")

These rare pieces do not come to market very often  and this table is an extremely good example of the Chinese export trade being commissioned to produce European style furnishings. The quality and colour of this wonderful table is also of the highest possible level.

*  The density and texture of the wood  constructing the  table base make it almost certainly zitan wood, a rare Chinese hardwood reserved for only the important pieces.
