Magnificent Venetian cabinet
Late 18th / early 19th century Italian walnut and marquetry bombe serpentine shaped commode, with lovely golden patina. Crossbanded top inlaid with a central motif of a Urn, surrounded by classical heads, scrolls and flower heads in the baroque manner. Three drawers below with dark bronze escutcheons and flanked by patinated bronze ormolu mounts. Beautifully decorated in marquetry heraldic themes and floral sprays. Sides feature marquetry panels of stylised poppies. Raised on curved and splayed legs also with dark bronze ormolu mounts legs with a soft scroll foot. This is part of a matched pair of venetian cabinets (see images)
